WE CANNOT NUMBER YOUR BLESSINGS

Eternal God, the refuge and help of all your children,
we praise you for all you have given us,
for all you have done for us,
for all that you are to us.
In our weakness you are strength,
in our darkness you are light,
in our sorrow you are comfort and peace.
We cannot number your blessings,
we cannot declare your love.
For all your goodness we bless you.
May we live as in your presence,
and love the things that you love,
and serve you in our daily lives:
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
(St. Boniface)

Daily Morning Prayer

Lord, I bring to Your altar
everything I think I know;
that I may have an open mind
and a new experience today
with Your creation,
with my brothers and sisters,
with myself,
and especially with You, Lord.

My Simple and Elegant Plan to Save the World

My three-point plan is so simple:
limit reproduction,
share what we have,
love each other
as ourselves.

Why won't they listen?

Why should they?
They won't listen to Me.
What makes you think
they would listen to you?

So -- what do I do
with this wisdom of mine?

Set a good example.

Set a good example?
That's it?

Try it,
and you'll see
it's tougher than preaching.

Ringmaster God?

Could God be a ringmaster with a show whip,
guiding superbly-trained equines
through intricate dances?

From the horses' point of view,
their purpose is to eat, sleep, reproduce,
and avoid punishment.
To the ringmaster, the horses' purpose
is to put on a good show.
Is there any point at shouting at the horses,
"It's not about you, you know!
No matter how well you perform,
it is for nothing
unless you share the ringmaster's purpose!"?

If a horse should happen to enjoy the applause,
does that make it a bad horse because it presumes
to share the ringmaster's glory?
Or if a horse starts to take pleasure in the dance
for its own sake
and wants to improvise some steps,
what then?

WHAT THEN?

That's easy:I would applaud.

Wouldn't you have to put down your whip to do that?

What whip? There never was a whip.
The pain you feel is yours:
you do it to yourselves and to each other.

So I am free to use my own wings
and sing my own song?

Oh yes. That's the whole point.
But beware -- magnificent undertakings
carry high price tags.

Losing my life to gain it?

That, and more.

Letting Go

Let go and let God?
Seems irresponsible.

Is God really
equal to the task?
God: Don’t worry.
I know what I’m doing.
Me: If You would only send me
and angel of light,
with a voice of thunder
and music everywhere!
Tell me what is true –
set me free
from doubt
and hesitation!
Must I be blind
 forever?
Open my eyes!God: Fear not.
The time is coming.
