Sitting still?
I will know what to do
as soon as I give up
my judgments
about what "should" happen.
Letting go is the hardest part.
I can't fake it--
it comes from the core,
the fruit of exhaustion.
Sometimes, faith sends me racing
towards a light that I can't yet see.
Sometimes faith coaxes me
to cherish a bitter foe
who scatters doubts
in fruitful fields of praise.
Sometimes, faith asks nothing
but simply sitting still.
Be quiet and sit still.
Simple until you try it.
Silence and stillness
rattle and shatter
our patterns
like stained glass.
